Honestly, this is a really moving video, and I know their intentions are good, but I can't help but think that a lot of these people don't need shoes. I know that might sound harsh, but really.

They've been doing fine without shoes for this long. My country redneck relatives in Alabama grew up in the woods with no shoes on and they were fine... had some tough feet too! They could run barefoot down a gravel road as fast as i could with shoes on.

We're creating an unsustainable world with our materialistic evangelism. What happens when westerners have spread materialism so far and wide that the whole world has been converted to think of luxuries as necessities?

Every pair of shoes made has a negative environmental impact.

Westerners, with Christian evangelical zeal, have always had the belief that it is our duty to make sure the rest of the world thinks and acts just like us. "Those poor, lost, impoverished souls don't know what they need and don't know how to live. We must go and show them the way and save them from their own backwardness and stupidity".

But what we are spreading is our own special brand of stupidity fueled by our total spiritual disconnect from the earth we came from.

I wish we had a Chief Seattle among us.

I know, right!

I do the same kind of things. When ever i'm doing house painting I always make sure to buy an extra can so that when I pour the leftovers down the storm drain, I can pour out that extra purchased can with it, to make up for a poor third-world family that wasn't able to pour a can of latex paint down their own storm drain!

But fo real...

We live in a "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" kind of culture.

We don't need to export that to the rest of the world.

Or do we consider the tribes in the quickly diminishing rain forests of Brazil to be backward and in need or "educating"?

What a silly sight to behold, an Amazon tribesman in Nike Airs and a Ralph Lauren Polo...
