It's the decedents of the slaves that stayed in those regions for generations.
hmmm.... perhaps it has something to do with the molecular compounds that make up the cotton. They seep slowly and treacherously into the pores of the cotton workers and systematically alter DNA to ultimately create bleeding-heart-pinko-commie-liberals. OR... maybe there's just some inherent connection to people who love white fluffy cottony goodness and people who love Democrats.
