“It took years after I’d graduated from Amherst to realize that people were actually far more complicated and interesting than books, that almost everyone else suffered the same secret fears and inadequacies as I, and that feeling alone and inferior was actually the great valent bond between us all. I wish I’d been smart enough to understand that when I was an adolescent.”

"The Calgary Flames are a professional ice hockey team based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada."
"The team was founded in 1972 in Atlanta, Georgia as the Atlanta Flames, and moved to Calgary in 1980."
"The Flames were the result of the NHL's first pre-emptive strike against the upstart World Hockey Association.[3] In December 1971, the NHL hastily granted a team to Long Island—the New York Islanders—to keep the WHA's New York Raiders out of the brand new Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Needing another team to balance the schedule, the NHL awarded a team to an Atlanta-based group that owned the National Basketball Association's Atlanta Hawks, headed by prominent local real estate developer Tom Cousins.[4] Cousins named the team the "Flames" after the fire resulting from the March to the Sea in the American Civil War by General William Tecumseh Sherman, in which Atlanta was nearly destroyed. They played home games in the Omni Coliseum in downtown Atlanta.[5]"

Paying With Our Sins

"Here’s a better idea — and one that will help the federal and state governments fill their coffers: Legalize drugs and then tax sales of them. And while we’re at it, welcome all forms of gambling (rather than just the few currently and arbitrarily allowed) and let prostitution go legit too. All of these vices, involving billions of dollars and consenting adults, already take place. They just take place beyond the taxman’s reach."
This illustration is by David Sandlin, who was the Lamar Dodd Chair last year.

Above is a sample of video taken at Luna Baking Co. that I installed at Bulldog Laundromat & Cleaners on May 5.
In the space the footage was shown in long takes mirroring the machinery present at the laundromat.
Each of the 3 screens held two alternating shots.

[Camcorder] Question
A friend of friend of mine is looking for a camcorder and asking for recommendation. She said she is [looking in the $1000-$2000 range for HD camcorder (prosumer grade) + mic set].
(She also said that she [doesn't want anything too complicated for amateurs to use])
I honestly don't know what's out there in the market right now (and I'll probably stick with my current camera for one more year), so I don't really have any idea...
But if someone has a product in mind, would you help?
